Analysis of Powder Compaction Process Using Multi-Particle Finite Element Method

Cold compaction is an essential step of the powder metallurgy process, which cost-effective in manufacturing industry. In present study, pure iron investigated. A MATLAB code developed to create a representative volume element with given size distribution, number particles, and initial relative density. The finite analysis performed by implementing ABAQUS/Explicit python script. Multi-particle employed analyze deformation particles into green body. effects loading path, geometry configuration, wall friction on punch force, axial transverse stresses, strains, yield surface are discussed. results indicate that affects load, stress state, surface. It was found that, increase from 0.0 0.2, force increases 14.70%. Also, difference between upper lower RVE face forces 1.01% 16.27%. Changing path compression hydrostatic decreases 57.7% 65.75% faces, while 27.70% 40.41%. strain smaller 35.33% than compression.
